Tried this with laphroaig 10 and a bit less vanilla syrup. Tastes like scotch diluted with sugary water. The color is nice though

Had to use lime instead of a lemon, and lowered orgeat to 2/3 oz, but it’s too sweet. However, the taste is interesting , so I’d try it again, but with less syrup, or will add a shot of espresso to balance it out.
OP high ester aged pot still rum, Hazelnut liqueur, Lemon juice
I like Suze, however here the flavors didn’t work for me in this cocktail
Maybe it’s because I didn’t want to open any wine, so I’ve used vermouth instead
Substituted Nonino with Montenegro and used half bourbon half rye. Nice drink, like a herbal whiskey sour.
Idk why adding water is recommended, the drink feels diluted and watery, will probably try again without the water sometime
Also used fresh lime juice instead of cordial, I’d say the result is quite sweet already
Made a sip without the ginger beer and it was great, like a Pisco pina colada. However ginger spoiled everything for me and made the drink tasting ‘cheap’, so will definitely make again without the ginger
Coconut-flavoured rums are rums (spirits) with a coconut flavour, while coconut rums tend to be liqueurs sweetened with sugar. I'd like to see the grams per litre of sugar content on the back labels to make it clearer. Easy to mistake a spirit for a liqueur.
Thanks for your response, Simon. So in order to substitute the coconut rum with coconut flavored rum I should use it with a splash of sugar syrup or is there a better idea?
Is there any particular difference between ’coconut rum’ and ‘coconut flavored rum’?
Absolutely and surprisingly great
I like Mai tais, but this one was ruined for me by the crème de menthe, 2 mls of which completely overshadowed everything. Will need to try again without the menthe and absinthe
I’ve been a bit confused with the variety of recipes for this cocktail, so I tried combining several of them into this:
30 ml of Smith & Cross
15 ml of Wray & Nephew
15 ml of Goslings 151
30 ml of Malibu
20 ml of my homemade Kahlua imitation
20 ml of lime juice
90 ml of pineapple juice
I’ve never tried this one before, so have no idea how this is supposed to taste, but I liked it.
However, next time I’d use 30 to 40 ml of overall rum and add some coconut cream.
Is it ok to substitute this with the 151 version? And to use black overproof rum instead of normal proof black rum in general? Thanks!
Triple sec, Lemon juice, Egg white (pasteurised), Caramel syrup, Aromatic bitters
Sorry for a stupid question, but how the opened bottle of sherry is supposed to be stored? I mean it’s a wine, so after a day in the fridge you can really use it, right? So should I open a new bottle every time I need 15 ml of sherry? Thanks
