Serve in a Coupe glass

Ingredients:
2 oz BarSol Mosto Verde Italia Pisco
12 oz Grand Marnier or other cognac orange liqueur
12 oz Luxardo Apricot Albicocca Liqueur
14 oz Lime cordial (sweetened lime juice)
14 oz Monin Grenadine Syrup
12 oz Chilled water omit if using wet ice

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill a Coupe glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.
  3. SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  4. FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.
  5. EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

History:

Drinks historian Dave Wondrich says that this cocktail was created for and named after the wealthy heir of a New York hardware company "who couldn't drink grain spirits and was bored with rum", hence the bartender used pisco, a grape spirit as the base.

Very happy with this recipe! I received a bottle of Pisco that didn’t make a very good sour, so I’m “researching”… Had to substitute Creme de Mur for Pomegranate, but definitely will make this again.

Idk why adding water is recommended, the drink feels diluted and watery, will probably try again without the water sometime
Also used fresh lime juice instead of cordial, I’d say the result is quite sweet already

This was really good. Strangely refreshing. But the picture suggests it should look an orange colour. Mine was red, which is what I would expect from that quantity of Grenadine. Did I get something wrong? Well not wrong as it tasted great!

Some commercially available grenadines impart a deep red colour to cocktails, even when using a small measure.
