I was rather loose with the measurements and the whisky was far too overwhelmng initially. Added some additional ginger ale and waited a bit and the ginger came out slightly. Decent and affordable high ball I might return to.

This turned out really well. I used Ardbeg 10 (and I know that's sent at least 1 single-malt lover into a frenzy), but I wanted to try this out with a more strongly-flavored scotch. I also used Vernor's ginger ale, which is all I had, with the result that the drink is quite sweet and less ginger-y than it would be otherwise.

This is rather good.
As Blackbeard, the pirate whose real name was Edward Teach, was killed today (22 November) in 1718, I was challenged by a friend to make a cocktail with Teachers whisky. I based it on this drink. My recipe is 45ml Teacher, 25ml Pimento dram, 75ml ginger ale. I might need to experiment further with the proportions. I call it Blackbeard’s Adventure, because Blackbeard’s last ship was the “Adventure”.
Thank you very much indeed for the inspiration.

Not bad. Am I supposed to get the biscuit wet or just eat it?

To dunk or not to dunk? A quandary!

I'd say, why not try both? See what you like best.
