Ingredients:
1 oz Bourbon whiskey
1 oz Dubonnet/French rouge aromatised wine
16 oz Orange Curaçao liqueur
16 oz Orange juice (freshly squeezed)
16 oz Pineapple juice
2 dash La Fée Parisienne absinthe
1 dash Peychaud's or other Creole-style bitters
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill an Old-fashioned glass.
  2. Prepare lemon zest twist, skewered Luxardo Maraschino Cherry and pineapple wedge for garnish.
  3. STIR all ingredients with ice.
  4. STRAIN into ice-filled glass.
  5. Express lemon zest twist over the cocktail and discard.
  6. Garnish with a skewered Luxardo Maraschino Cherry and pineapple wedge placed on the rim.

Adapted from a recipe in Hugo R. Ensslin's 1917 Recipes for Mixed Drinks (2nd Edition) (It may have also appeared in his 1916 first edition.)

OLD FASHIONED APPETIZER
Use old fashioned glass.
Cube of Ice
½ jigger Rye or Bourbon
½ jigger Dubonnet
2 dashes Curacao
2 dashes Absinthe
1 slice Orange
1 slice Pineapple
1 piece Lemon Peel
1 dash Peychaud Bitters
Serve with a small bar spoon in glass.
