Serve in a Coupe glass

Ingredients:
1 12 oz Rémy Martin V.S.O.P. cognac
12 oz Kleos Mastiha liqueur
16 oz Fernet Branca liqueur
16 oz Monin Pure Cane Syrup (65.0°brix, equivalent to 2:1 rich syrup)
1 dash Chocolate bitters
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill a Coupe glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.
  3. STIR all ingredients with ice.
  4. FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.
  5. EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and discard.

Still clearly a cognac cocktail, but the fernet works it's magic and gives this a lighter and fresher note. The mastiha seems lost in this combo, and adds more sweetness to that coming from the rich syrup - I'm not sure if I'd notice a drop in the cocktail quality if I removed the mastiha.

I used Fee Brothers Aztec Chocolate Bitters. Excellent.

I removed the sugar syrup since I mostly prefer my drinks a little drier. It worked well with that tweak in place.

Not sure if it is because of the Cognac I used, but I think this one was too present in the taste

I quite like it as a boozy late-night digestive but I have reduced cognac to 45ml (from 50ml).
