2 oz | Hayman's London Dry Gin |
1⁄4 oz | Luxardo Maraschino liqueur |
1 1⁄3 oz | Pineapple juice |
4 drop | Difford's Margarita Bitters |
Soft and fruity. Be careful: it's more potent than you think.
Thought to date back to immediately after the Prohibition era, where it is thought to have originated at the Cotton Club in Harlem, New York City. The Harlem Cocktail first appears in print in the 1934 book Old Mr. Boston Bartender's Guide and then in Charlie Conolly's The World Famous Cotton Club: 1939 Book of Mixed Drinks.
Harlem Cocktail

1 ½ ounces Gin
¾ ounce Pineapple Juice
¼ ounce Maraschino liqueur
In a shaker muddle two or three pieces of fresh pineapple. Add gin, pineapple juice, Maraschino liqueur and fill with ice. Shake and pour into Old Fashioned glass.
