I didn't expect the grenadine to be as impactful as it was. An interesting take on the more traditional martini. It's a neat twist that I'll bring out from time to time, especially when I've got guests that shy from the more normal martini taste.

As the original recipe suggests, I prefer to twist the lemon peel. Even though I don’t usually do this in the 5:1 preferred martini, in this variation I think that a bright citrus note really helps balance the sweetness. It tastes fine, but I wouldn’t call it my favorite.

Excellent cocktail. Living in California we have our own pomegranate trees and make our own Grenadine to our specifics which has less sugar.
Important that you use the best gin you can afford. We used very herbal California gin which allowed all the ingredients to shine.

A true dessert drink Martini. The slight savoury notes of the grenadine (homemade from fresh juice of course), pairs really well with the herbaceousness of the dry vermouth, with the botanicals of the gin taking a step back. I do have to say that it is not for sore dry palates.

Great cocktail, although the key thing is the gin. Pick one you genuinely like the taste of and you can’t go far wrong.

There's nothing wrong with this drink but perhaps it's telling that my favourite part was the cherry
