A medium-dry Gin Collins based on old tom gin. There is much confusion between Tom Collins and John Collins; arguably, the two names are interchangeable...
The UK’s heatwave practically demands a Tom Collins. I mixed 50 ml Hayman’s Old Tom Gin with 25 ml fresh lemon juice, then topped it off with about 75 ml Schweppes Lemonade. Skipped the sugar syrup—didn’t need it. Its Bright, balanced, and incredibly refreshing.
Looked at this a few times and dismissed it as being too simple.
But take it back. its the simplicity that makes this classic what it is.
I am on my third. It is that enjoyable
Very refreshing and easily modified - currently I am drinking one with a (very) small amount of homemade caraway/pink peppercorn infusion, which adds a touch of extra flavor without denaturing the original.
Absolutely without a doubt one of the best gin drinks a guy can make.
1.1/2oz Haymans Old Tom
1oz lemon juice
1/2oz simple syrup
3oz soda water
So perfectly refreshing
