Take away the grenadine and maybe reduce the elderflower liqueur a little and this turns into a great Tequila Martini variation! Still really nice and festive. Unfortunately I forgot to swirl the grenadine in while drinking it, so it was just that at the end.

Personally, I recommend adding 3 dashes of plum bitters. It mellows out the tequila and makes this booze-heavy beverage a much easier drink, and adds even more complexity!

Elf On The Pantry Shelf? LOL

Dominated by sherry & Tequila. Looks great but not as good as a margarita for me.

Tried this out last night on (1) hardened drinker (2) an 'almost' teetotaller and (3) a dedicated gin&tonic'er ... verdict? Huge success, 2 each. The grenadine base was inspired

... also made a plasticine elf as decoration which, given kitchen heat, amusingly slid / slumped as the evening wore on

Very elegant. The blush at the base of the glass works best with the syrup, we think. For some reason, we wondered if this elf might prefer to be a Margarita. So we switched the volumes of the Elderflower Liqueur and the Triple Sec and added 15ml lemon juice. A first pass...we'll try to refine it. And we call it El Duendo Explorador.

hard to go wrong with these ingredients but this is well crafted. will certainly revisit this one!

Especially liking the subtle acidity from the fino. Pairs well with the floral elderflower. Indeed the deeper I dive into this one the better the different parts display! Sgoinneil Simon! And there at the end the grenadine treat!

I've made this cocktail 5 or 6 times these Christmas holidays. That should mean something.

Went down very well as a Christmas Day cocktail. We went for a very naughty elf, substituting grenadine for Maraska cherry liqueur and sherry for sake. A sprig of rosemary gave it a very festive look.

Genius, looked and tasted very festive! If you drank it on on a hot summer's day it would totally work too! I did the good girl version...for now!
Thank you.

This is very good, the ingredients work really well together.
I might try the naughtiest version next time with some berry liqueur, cassis could be an excellent addition.

Not just a Chrismas cocktail: the right balance and the recognisability of the ingredients deserves its entry into the next Difford’s paper Guide too.

Excellence. Little to tweak here. Every ingredient apparent. I did use Amontillado, which is perhaps too present up front, but it melds beautifully in the aftertaste. (11 Jan 2024, 7:10a)

Been waiting for the right opportunity to try this one out since it first appeared on the website guide; and today was that perfect moment. Happy to say that the drink didn't disappoint, looking suitably festive to boot. Hopefully this is an auspicious start to a successful Christmas cocktail season :-)

Fabulous Christmas cocktail, subtly dry and a hint of sweetness. Not my usual tipple but can certainly recommend.

Fantastic cocktail! Complex and subtle but with great personality!

Having an elf residing with me, this was a must try cocktail. Needless to say she proved herself a naughty elf by stirring the the grenadine before trying the drink. Served with a stem cherry for greater effect.

Great Christmas cocktail. Nicely balanced with a fantastic sweet christmassey finish when you stir in the Grenadine at the end. Used 10ml rather than 15ml of Eldeflower as I was using Giffard's Liqueur Fleur de Sureau Sauvage which is full on.

Terrific new cocktail! I made it with Casamigos cristalano, which adds a bit of savory to it. Yum.

We both liked this. Despite the slightly laboured pun for the name, it is a pleasant blend of flavours, none dominant, but surprisingly complex. A keeper.

Had to make this based on name alone. Interesting wouldn’t say we loved it but it’s very pretty. Would probably make again for visiting elves during the holiday tho.
