Made using a baking process usually more associated with mezcal, Patrón Smoky starts with roasting 2 tonnes of agave piñas with mesquite in small underground stone pits at Hacienda Patrón for about seven days. They are then crushed using a tahona wheel, fermented, and distilled.

Smoky bacon, butterscotch, toffee, citrus and patisserie pastry.
Very slight sweet fresh roasted agave with delicate smoke and a tingle of black pepper.
Long, smoky roast agave with delicate spice.
Best summarised as tasting like a highly refined mezcal. Delicious.
