Ingredients:
1 23 oz Straight rye whiskey (100 proof /50% alc./vol.)
23 oz Pink grapefruit juice (freshly squeezed)
12 oz Lime juice (freshly squeezed)
13 oz Difford's Falernum liqueur
14 oz Monin Pure Cane Syrup (65.0°brix, equivalent to 2:1 rich syrup)

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill an Old-fashioned glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of lemon slice wheel & Luxardo Maraschino Cherry sail.
  3. SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  4. STRAIN into glass filled with crushed ice.

Subbed allspice dram for the falernum, as that was the closest I had. Pretty good, but very much in the category of "this would likely be better with rum".

Very refreshing. The edge of the over-proof rye is tempered by the other ingredients. Sour, but in a pleasant way. Perfect on a warm afternoon.

Made this with Old Overholt and John Taylors Velvet Falernum, Made it with lime like it called for but it was so good I want to try it with lemon next time. Very nice indeed!
