an Old-fashioned glass...
2 shot Straight rye whiskey
¾ shot Freshly squeezed lemon juice
½ shot Sugar syrup (2 sugar to 1 water)
¾ shot Claret red wine

How to make:

SHAKE first 3 ingredients with ice and fine strain into ice-filled glass. FLOAT claret on drink.

Garnish:

Orange slice & cherry on stick (sail)

Origin:

Recipe adapted from the 1935 'The Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book' in which Albert S. Crocket writes of this drink, "Invented at the Old Hotel Brunswick, once a resort for Fashion, and situated on the north side of Madison Square."
