Ingredients:
2 oz Bourbon bonded-strength (50% alc./vol.)
12 oz Cynar or other carciofo amaro
12 oz Amaro (e.g. CioCiaro)
1 dash Angostura Aromatic Bitters
3 drop Saline solution 4:1 (20g sea salt to 80g water)
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill a Nick & Nora glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.
  3. STIR all ingredients with ice.
  4. STRAIN into chilled glass.
  5. EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

History:

Adapted from a recipe created in 2019 by Garrett Flanagan at Slowly Shirley in Manhattan, New York City. The original recipe calls for 60ml (2oz) overproof bourbon, 15ml (½oz) Cynar, 15ml (½oz) Amaro CioCiaro, and 1 dash Amargo-Vallet bitters.

Would love to make per spec. I have all but my bottle of CioCiaro is a few years old. Thoughts on how long an Amaro will last after opening ?

Flavour will change due to oxidation but still OK to drink.
