1 13 oz Patrón Silver blanco tequila
34 oz Del Maguey Vida Clásico Mezcal
34 oz Lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
12 oz Monin Almond (Orgeat) Syrup
3 drop Saline solution (20g sea salt to 80g water) or merest pinch of s

Prepare:

  1. Select and pre-chill a COUPE GLASS.
  2. No garnish to prepare.

How to make:

  1. SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  2. FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Garnish:

  1. Serve naked, without garnish.

History:

Adapted from a recipe created in 2019 by drinks writer and raconteur Robert Simonson in Brooklyn, New York City. Named for the 1863 battle between the Mexican army and the French Foreign Legion. Robert's original recipe: 30ml (1oz) tequila, 30ml (1oz) mezcal, 22.5ml (¾oz) lemon juice, 15ml (½oz) orgeat syrup.

A pleasantly uncomplicated sour with almond complementing earthy agave flavors amidst mild salt rounded smoke. Wonderfully absent barrel notes. Likin' the clear.♡
