How to make:

SHAKE all ingredients with ice and fine strain into chilled glass.

3/4 fl oz Bourbon whiskey
3/4 fl oz Amontillado sherry
3/4 fl oz Dry white port
1/3 fl oz Sugar syrup (rich) 2 sugar to 1 water
1 dash Orange Bitters by Angostura

This complex cocktail is equally enjoyable as an aperitivo or after-dinner digestivo. If enjoying as an aperitivo, then consider using equal parts fino and amontillado sherries.

History:

Adapted from a recipe created by Derek Brown at Columbia Room, Washington D.C., USA. Apparently, this cocktail was served at the White House during a party hosted by the Obamas. How the President and First Lady regarded the libation is not recorded.
