Our comment:

Suitably hard, yet surprisingly refreshing and sophisticated.

Variant:

Orange bitters instead of Angostura, as discovered in 2008 at the Experimental Cocktail Club, Paris.

History:

An adaptation of the classic French 75 created in 1988 at La Perla, Paris, France. The name is said to come from Fidel Castro's statement that bullets, like wine, came in vintages and 55 was a good year [for bullets].

More information on the history and variants of the French 75 can be found on our page.
