Serve in a Coupe glass

Ingredients:
34 oz Cognac (brandy)
12 oz Cointreau triple sec liqueur
34 oz Americano bianco chilled
34 oz Lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
× 1 1 serving
Read about cocktail measures and measuring

Prepare:

  1. Select and pre-chill a COUPE GLASS.
  2. Prepare garnish of lemon zest twist.

How to make:

  1. SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  2. STRAIN into chilled glass.

Garnish:

  1. EXPRESS lemon zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

AKA: The Frank Sullivan, Odd McIntyre

History:

In both Harry Craddock's 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book and R. de Fleury's 1934 book 1700 Cocktails for the Man Behind the Bar, The Frank Sullivan, Hoop La! and Odd McIntyre are different names for the same recipe. However, I've given each of these cocktails its own recipe; this one borrowed from Michael and Zara Madrusan's 2025 The Madrusan Cocktail Companion.

FRANK SULLIVAN COCKTAIL.
¼ Glass Lemon Juice.
¼ Glass Kina Lillet.
¼ Glass Cointreau.
¼ Glass Brandy.
Shake well and strain into cocktail glass.

HOOP LA! COCKTAIL
¼ Lemon Juice.
¼ Kina Lillet.
¼ Cointreau.
¼ Brandy.
Shake well and strain into cocktail glass.

ODD McINTYRE
¼ Glass Lemon Juice.
¼ Glass Kina Lillet.
¼ Glass Cointreau.
¼ Glass Brandy.
Shake well and strain into cocktail glass.
