History

A riff on Seth Brammer's excellent Farmer's Tan created in February 2018 by yours truly at the Cabinet Room, London, England.

Review

Spirituous and lightly vinous with subtle agave notes, bready genever and spicy gin all refreshed by zesty orange curaçao. Five equal parts is a faff to measure for individual cocktails but a dream to batch.

Perfect. Smooth with a hint of spice and herbs. Very spirit forward and outstanding before dinner. In my favourites.

Tried and liked this with Cardamaro (love that stuff); just got a bottle of Cocchi Dopo Teatro (and wow do I love that stuff it's almost gone) and made this again. Added a heart, can we change our ratings?

Agreed. Both Cardamaro and Cocchi Dopo Teatro are delicious. We presently working on allowing ratings to be amended once made - hopefully not long now.

This one is crazy to me. Perfect sweetness, nice and boozy. Genever and Tequila bring peppery brown bread. The Gin brings brightness. Curaçao rounds the edges. Cardamaro brings background complexity. I think if I blind tasted it I would have guessed it was an Old Fashioned. But, what kind of old fashioned? :) Fantastic drink!

What would be a good substitute for Dopo Teatro? Barolo Chinato, perhaps?

Other vermouth amari include Cardamaro and the new Luxardo Antico (not tried the latter yet). Chinato is a different animal.
