There's a load of orgeat (almond syrup) in this Daiquiri-style cocktail, but it's only just on the sweet side of balanced with that almond richness contributing...
Fundamentally I think I would say I like it. My problem is that going into it I expected it to be a Mai Tai or Daiquiri riff. That's not what this is at all. On the sum of ingredients you would *think* that's what it is but I don't think so. The Maraschino takes it into a completely different direction. It's not a sour so don't expect that. It's more like an earthy, almondy almost Mojito-like but without the Soda water. Again, I like it, but I'd like to try it again mentally realigned.
A creamy more varied in flavour "Daiquiri" style drink. Almost a Tiki drink without all the ice, and gaudy glassware getting in the way. I did add extra Lime. to keep the sweetness in check.
So delicious!! Great flavour combination.
I ran out of Orgeat while making this and so only used 15ml instead of the recipes' 20ml.
It was fantastic as it was.
Highly recommend.

Just followed the recipe and served it right away to our customers as a special on last Friday night.
Everyone was amazed by the mix of flavours and it’s character.
Maurizio! You absolute genius!! What a fantastic cocktail. This should be a future classic. Something which bars around the world should do. An anytime drink with the richness of the orgeat balanced by the lime, the rum provides body (and it is adaptable, even Havana Club 3 worked here!). The Angostura Bitters added complexity, rounded off with the freshness of the mint again rounding it all together. The nutmeg added aromatics and an interesting texture. Absolutely beautiful.
Very nice indeed! Acidity and sweetness are balanced beautifully, the nutmeg is a really nice touch giving a hint of spice, and the nutty flavours are strong and sweet without overpowering the tangy lime and the gentle heat of the rum. I didn't have any fresh mint this time, but will definitely be trying this drink again for sure and I'm sure this will improve an already fantastic drink even more by adding a cool, fresh element to the complex flavour profile. Thank you Maurizio, and well done!
Yum! Homemade orgeat is a bit of work, but with a cocktail like this, it shouldn’t be a problem using it up before it goes funky. Lovely balance without being too sweet. The healthy dollop of Angostura adds a nice complexity and color.
Wow, very nice. balanced. Forgot the dusting of nutmeg but went back and added and a nice touch. Used Liber & Co. orgeat and reduced to .5 oz. Probably a crowd pleaser.
