It's a very nice drink for May-into-June, as the seasons change, but if it's got the word "apple" in the name, well, it needs to taste more apple-forward.
I have added a few dashes of chocolate bitters and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top of the built cocktail.
Very good, and I can see how it strongly depends on the flavor of the apple juice and honey.
I have used a refreshing scandinavian style micro-distillery gin, a naturally sweet, acidic juice, and a rich tasting craft honey, and that spoke in the drink (in a very good way).
Very delicious. Interestingly, the honey amplifies the apple flavour while the gin is more of a background player (I used Beefeater). Overall it's a perfectly balanced drink. Highly recommended.
I was going to say this was a lame drink until I got a hold of the aftertaste, and it's actually a bit funky?... Comes across with an herbal, green (caramel) apple quality; tart, medicinal... the honey is at an excellent measure, not really lingering long beyond the initial expressions... Curious now to try this with a better gin (my test standard is Gordon's). (14 Oct 2023, 6:16a)
Utterly delicious. One of the best cocktails ever found on this site! Delicious juniper interacts with honeyed apple (incredible combination), balanced by sour lime. Just delightful.
Made with slightly less gin, a little more apple juice and straight honey and I loved it! The gin works perfectly with the sweetness of the honey and the apple juice while the lime brings out the citrus notes. Lovely for a fall evening.
Enjoyed this drink. I had some apple cider sitting in my fridge and made another one with that to substitute the apple juice. I honestly don't know which one I like better, they both are really good, yet different.
Didn't have apple juice on hand, but I did have a white (un-aged) apple jack!
So I followed the given specks, replacing the apple juice with the apple jack and serving straight up in a coupe. Not quite enough apple, but still quite nice. Next time I might split the gin & apple jack 50/50 to get more apple flavor.
Either way, quite happy with this drink blueprint.
Just used honey and this was so lovely - obviously the honey will have a major affect mine was a good quality orange blossom.
may try bump up the non- gin items to make it a longer drink.
But as it is it just wants you to make another - so simple but what a refreshing taste
I've experimented with more apple juice and came to the conclusion that it actually needed less gin. Hence, I've reduced gin from 60ml to 50ml. Hope you approve of the change.
