My version of the established Jamie's Italian Gennaro's Sidecar is a tad boozier than the original, but retains the balance between sweet limoncello liqueur...
Wow, got into my favorites. I made it with a very good limoncello a close friend offered me, so far I had just tasted very sweet and not so good ones, this makes a big difference. If you have such a good limoncello, you can also try the Negroni d'Amalfi !
A very solid sidecar variation. I made mine with Pierre Ferrand 1840. Tart with grape notes from the cognac and a touch of sweetness from the limoncello.
This is quite a nice riff on a Sidecar, with the Limoncello coming through, giving this drink a nice sour & tart kick to a classic Sidecar, making this drink quite pleasant
This is just the ticket! Got two bottles of limoncello that needed using. I used Remy for the cognac part but otherwise stuck to the recipe. Think I just found my go to cocktail!
I went with Armagnac (Domaine Tariquet) instead of Cognac. For me, more subtle. Each to their own, of course; taste is the most mysterious of our five senses.
Replaced the chilled water by 1/4 oz extra cognac (ABK6 VSOP) and used A. de Fussigny orange cognac liqueur, which is fairly orangey as such liqueurs go. No Pallini so used Bellini limoncello liqueur, figuring that was close enough. Lemons from Albertson’s, not Amalfi. Added a couple lemon twists to the shaker and garnished with lemon zest to be sure it was lemony enough. It was. Excellent!
Very close to the Lady's Sidecar in overall flavor. Maybe a little more balanced and definitely not as dry. It's interesting because this one "flip-flops" the sour/sweet notes vs the Lady's Sidecar. This one starts with the sweetness of the Limoncello and finishes with more of the citrus sour tones. Very nice though.
Really enjoy this variation on the traditional Sidecar. I’ve made it twice now, the second time swapping orangecello for limoncello. It was even better! Lots of layers to this simple, well-balanced cocktail.
Really enjoyed this. I used Dillon's Limoncello which is not sweet like many brands. To compensate, I added 2.5ml of rich syrup which for me really tamed the tartness. Nicer than sugar rim.
