I first made this with Campari and it was too bitter. Adjusted the specs - 25, 25, 20, 22.5 - and I couldn't get enough... But that still didn't get the Cascahuin to pop. So these specs - 30, 25, 15, 15 - did, but I'm not sure which I liked more... Despite the straying from the even-measure recipe, the drink still pretty much tasted like itself.

Lemon seemed to overpower the subtle notes of the Amaro and the tequila was completely lost. I'd suggest cutting lemon juice in half. It was a much better the second round, better showcase of the other 3 IMO.

Lazy bum that I am, I used the juice of 1/2 a lemon without measuring. Mea culpa. But it was still really good.
This was a great way to use up the Amaro Meletti I accidentally bought. Now that it's gone, Amaro Nonino slides in just fine, thank you very much.

I replaced Meletti with Amaro Nonino which possibly produces a softer version. The better replacement would have been Ramazotti, because both use cola-nuts 🥺.

Made one using mezcal. Bitter, sour, sweet, and smokey in perfect synchronized harmony.

Better than a Paper Plane in my opinion, and has been a hit when I made it for friends.

As someone who doesn’t like bourbon, it beats the original hollow. Especially with mezcal.

One of the better Paper Plane (and ultimately Last Word) riffs. I made it with Montenegro instead of Meletti, and really enjoyed how the Aperol and Amaro support and enhance the vegetal notes from the tequila. A lovely drink.

Great aperitif. Nicely balanced between sour and sweet. The sweetness will depend on your lemons and bitters. Wonder colour.

The Meletti is quite sweet so I like to take it down a 1/4oz and bump the tequila up a 1/4oz... Incredible Paper Plane riff!

After the Bermondsey Minute which my family found very average it was followed by this cocktail that was much bettter.

I didn't have any Meletti, so I used half and half Cynar and Tuaca for that part. It was quite nice, well balanced bitterness, tequila funk, and citrus tang.
