I think it's the Dubonnet which lifts this to a really great drink but like Alan suggests increasing some ingredients makes it even more palatable
Already delicious but if you knock back the elderflower a tad and boost the Campari a little it gets even better
Lovely Lovely. Even with cheapish champers and some rather scratty limes this was very palatable. Not too sweet but might add a bit more elderflower next time.
Excellent ... Other recipies miss the salt & angostura which, for me, make all the difference... almost a savoury note. A real winner.
Tried this out last night on (1) hardened drinker (2) an 'almost' teetotaller and (3) a dedicated gin&tonic'er ... verdict? Huge success, 2 each. The grenadine base was inspired
... also made a plasticine elf as decoration which, given kitchen heat, amusingly slid / slumped as the evening wore on

This is the ONLY jigger worth buying. I have 5 (yes, really) other jiggers and when set against a canonical measure from a medical device, this is the only one which is accurate. Additionally as the measurements are marked on the inside of the jigger it is SO much easier to use. Top quality product
Lovely - others have noticed the peppermint / liquorice flavour coming through to which I would add brandy-like notes too. Don't trust my observations as I've had covid (again) recently so my taste buds are currently having a bit of a rest
I have tried this with sloe gin and bullace gin and the latter is better. Bullace (wild plum) are common here in my part of Suffolk and make a lovely drink - for this recipie cut down on the sugar as bullace aren't as tart as sloes
This is simply excellent. Despite the heroic alcoholic content this is a finely balanced drink which I can imagine sneaking into the drinking habits of unsuspecting relatives
Woohoo... this one is an absolute belter. I have two elderly Aunts who haven't spoken for over 30 years but at a recent family gathering I promised each one a 'special Auntie' drink and then sat them together. By the time they were half way down number 2 they were hugging and, later, singing hymns together.
You make a good point! I've amended accordingly. Many thanks for bringing to my attention.
Thanks for quick response ... another question: as there are only 57ml of liquid in total in the drink are the measures correct?
Isn't eucalyptus oil very poisonous?
