Ingredients:
3 fresh Basil leaves
1 oz Del Maguey Vida Clásico Mezcal
12 oz Patrón Silver blanco tequila
13 oz Green Chartreuse (or alternative herbal liqueur)
14 oz Kummel liqueur
13 oz Agave syrup
23 oz Lime juice (freshly squeezed)
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill a Coupe glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of basil leaf.
  3. SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  4. FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.
  5. Garnish with a basil leaf boat floated on surface.

Review:

Some of the biggest flavours on the back bar are corralled, tamed and made to play together nicely to produce an assertive but very quaffable cocktail.

Wow. So much going on, but so well balanced. A great interplay between ingredients. As with several other comments, I used a rich Aquavit which I got in Norway. Adding this one to my favorites!

Great, fresh smoky and rich cocktail. We cannot get Kümmel liqueur here in Denmark, so I used 7,5 ml Lysholm Linie Aquavit instead and upped the agave syrup to 15 ml. And used a few extra basil leaves. It turned out absolutely excellent. Love this cocktail.

My wife challenges me when I find a new cocktail that needs a new spirit. I made this w/ Aquavit, it was the first time I made a cocktail w/ Chartreuse my wife also liked... Loved it!

Bill, you are absolutely right. Works well with a (rich) aquavit instead of kümmel liqueur - and a bit extra agave syrup to compensate for the lack of sweetness in the aquavit.
Do go for Mezcal Dante, when you have aquavit but no kümmel liqueur.

This week I try some 5 star + and this is another great cocktail! I served it in a Nick and Nora which fitted very well. Personally I would reduce the agave syrup, but my guest were perfectly fine.

Yeh agree, going to drop the agave syrup to 7.5 ml next time but otherwise really enjoyed this 🤌

Just made this tonight. It’s so complex and sophisticated, really enjoyed it. The kümmel was not overbearing, as it often can be, and married beautifully in the background with the other ingredients. Will definitely make this again.

I have been making The Dante with Mezcal, without the Agave syrup and reducing the kümmel like this to 0.25oz.
