Serve in a Shot glass

Ingredients:
12 oz Cynar or other carciofo amaro
12 oz Applejack brandy bottled-in-bond (50% alc./vol)
1 dash Angostura Aromatic Bitters
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select a Shot glass.
  2. POUR all ingredients (preferably chilled) into chilled glass.

History:

Adapted from a recipe created in circa 2012 by Tonia Guffey at Dram bar in New York City. Originally named the Triple A for amaro, Angostura and applejack, the CIA name, an acronym of Cynar In Applejack, was the idea of broadcaster and bar entrepreneur Sother Teague.

I've tried this with Cynar and Meletti on separate attempts. Enjoyed both, but the amaro dominates.
