Review:

Traditionally this cocktail does not include blue curaçao with its name referencing Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee and not the colour. Mysteriously, our photo of this cocktail has a distinct blue hue so this led me to adapt the recipe to fit both the image and its name. My original recipe:
1½ shots Bacardi Carta Ocho aged rum
½ shot Ketel One Vodka
½ shot Coffee liqueur
1½ shots Freshly squeezed orange juice

I made it with Mr Black, looks like cat vomit but tastes delicious.

Tried again same proportions, smaller quantities (30ml rather 45s) but used triple sec instead of orange juice. Makes me wonder if the phot was done with blue curacao

How does theirs go blue? mine is mud coloured, more a Muddy Peak than a Blue Mountain. Tastes good though.

I've just revisited this recipe as the blue hue in the pic has been troubling me. I can't find notes but I suspect I added blue curaçao to accompany the orange juice so I have reformulated recipe to include blue curaçao.

I made the original blue/green-tinged drink in the photo but worryingly I've just made it three times with slightly different specs and all three are mud-coloured. I'm using Kahlua and I suspect a different coffee liqueur is needed? Wish I'd left myself better notes! If it wasn't for the photo I'd say Blue Mountain wasn't a reference to the drink's colour but to the Blue Mountains in Jamaica that are noted for coffee.

I had a few clementines so used those as well as an orange and it was absolutely delicious. Would be a fabulous breakfast cocktail for an indulgent treat - not too sweet and just the right amount of caffeine kick.

Love it. It kind of reminds me of a soft milk toffee. I do wonder why the photo gets a blue color; maybe I was missing something?
