Serve in a Coupe glass

Ingredients:
2 12 oz Rémy Martin V.S.O.P. cognac
34 oz Lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
12 oz Monin Pure Cane Syrup (65.0°brix, equivalent to 2:1 rich syrup)
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill a Coupe glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.
  3. SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  4. FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.
  5. EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

History:

Inspired by a drink discovered in May 2010 at Babel Bar, Hotel du Rome, Berlin, Germany. Named after a combination of 'Sidecar' and 'Ugni-blanc', the grape from which cognac is most commonly made.

I was a bit nervous about this one. Just looked like an awful lot of lemon juice, and you could probably get away with a scant 3/4 oz or heavy 2/3 oz if you wanted to tone down the lemon just a hair. Wouldn’t tinker with it too terribly much though. It really is beautifully balanced and minimalism done right.
