History

Created in 2011 by Nick Van Tiel and named after the 1969 soul classic by Motown singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder. Originally titled Oh My Marcia, the song was originally about Wonder's girlfriend whilst he was at the Michigan School for the Blind in Lansing, Michigan. After they broke up, the lyrics and title were changed to 'My Cherie Amour'.

Review

A bittersweet, salmon-pink, light, delicate balance of gin, herbal complexity, grapefruit and dry sherry.

For us, the Aperol is too dominant here. Perhaps dial that down a little and maybe dial up the gin. Or even substitute Savoia Americano Rosso for the Aperol.

I liked this cocktail even more than I thought I would. I would highly recommend a very juniper forward gin and I doubled the fino sherry. To me the dryness of the sherry balanced the bittersweet really well.

Agreed, David. I've doubled the fino to 15ml.
