Ingredients:
1 12 oz Straight rye whiskey (100 proof /50% alc./vol.)
12 oz Chamomile/Camomile liqueur
12 oz Cynar or other carciofo amaro
14 oz Strucchi Rosso Vermouth
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill a Nick & Nora glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of edible flower (preferably Chamomile).
  3. STIR all ingredients with ice.
  4. FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Created February 2019 by Matteo Landi at Back Door 43, Milan, Italy. So named due to a lack of a better name. Originally made with Cocchi Storico Vermouth di Torino rosso vermouth.

Chamomile liqueur harmonises very well with whisky, particularly Scotch IMO. I wish there are more recipes available because it is an underrated ingredient and it deserves more attention in my opinion.

Would this do okay with using St Germaine as a substitute for the chamomile liqueur? Or would doing something like infusing chamomile tea into a cointreau or grand marnier bet a better substitute?

I've just tried with St-Germain and works well as a substitution, certainly preferable to infusion.
