1 fl oz Strucchi Rosso Vermouth
1/6 fl oz Luxardo Maraschino liqueur
1 dash Orange Bitters by Angostura

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill a Coupe glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of orange zest twist (discarded) & skewered Luxardo Maraschino Cherry.
  3. STIR all ingredients with ice.
  4. FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

History:

Adapted from a recipe in Harry Craddock's 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book. The Diplomat also notably appears in Patrick Gavin Duffy's 1934 The Official Mixer's Manual.

DIPLOMAT COCKTAIL.
1 Dash Maraschino.
2/3 French Vermouth.
1/3 Italian Vermouth.
Shake well and strain into cocktail glass. Add cherry and squeeze lemon peel on top.
