History

Review

Mezcal provides a subtle hint of smokiness while chilli liqueur adds hot spice. The other guests to Paloma's party bring fruity honeyed sweetness.

I kept to the recipe in the video clip and liked it better compared to the recipe on top of this page. The mezcal is otherwise overpowering and the chili liqueur not noticeable

I split the base to 1/4 Oz. mezcal (Del Maguey Vida) and 1 1/4 Oz. tequila (Espolon Reposado) as I wasn't in the mood for a strongly smoky drink. This worked really well. Grapefruit bitterness follows a light spicy, smoky entry with sweet tequila providing the background. A nice, refreshing aperitif with enough complexity to keep it interesting.

Made this with Chihuahuan Desert Sotol and added a few dashes of Scrappys Fire Tincture. 5 Stars!

Also works well using tequila blanco (I used G4) if you prefer a less smoky taste.
