I think the tequila can really make or break this cocktail. I think it needs to be leaning more towards the fresh citrus and raw agave flavors rather than the pepper and cooked agave. I used Nock Blanco and it worked fabulously. It's not too sweet like many cream drinks can be. It's honestly a solid tequila cocktail which highlights the tequila in a new and interesting way.
A tip for cream cocktails btw: dry shake it like you would with an egg white cocktail. It builds a nice foam and gradient.
Delicious!
Although by the time I got through all of my substitutions (black pepper vodka for half of the tequila, unsweetened tart cherry concentrate for the grenadine and coconut cream for the cream), it became an entirely different cocktail, which we have dubbed Ratty Fishnets
This reminds me a bit of the famous Golden Cadillac which is another creamy cocktail featuring white chocolate liqueur. Both drinks are a decadent adult treat but this one is quite interesting with the tequila dancing with the crème de cacao really well.
Just a heads up - if you use commercial grenadine, this is going to look like pepto bismol! Not the best use of any of these ingredients IMO. (Silk Stocking)
Remade it with Cascahuin Blanco Tequila (wonderful additive free Tequila). Sadly, not as much of an upgrade as I hoped. I still stand with my previous comment that even a Mixto will work, as long as all the other ingredients are of reasonable quality.
This was outstanding. Strong blanco tequila flavour and great for an after dinner drink. Perfect for ending the celebration of Mexico's Independence. In Mexico, tequila cocktails must have a strong flavour of tequila. Perfecto.
Very strong tequila flavour but with sumptuous creamy mouthfeel. I would perhaps reduce the tequila a bit and find something to up the fruitiness, perhaps another fruit based liqueur perhaps? But that would be a different cocktail by then of coarse.
