How to make

Prepare

Select and pre-chill an OLD-FASHIONED GLASS.
Prepare garnish of orange zest twist and skewered red grapes.

Method

MUDDLE grapes in base of shaker.
Add other ingredients and SHAKE with ice.
FINE STRAIN into ice-filled glass.

Garnish

EXPRESS orange zest twist over cocktail and discard.
Garnish with skewered grapes.

This riff on Vincenzo Ericco's original Enzoni is believed to have been created, circa 2012-13 by Richard Boccato for his Dutch Kills bar in Long Island, New York City, USA.

It’s always hit or miss with cocktail variants. Incredibly, this one is just as good as the original; it just tastes like a different flavor.

Agreed. But it can also depend on the rye. I used a rye whiskey with 70% rye and I get a lot of it on the finish. Still delightful though.

Ooh, this is very nice. I get a lot more of the grape and a lot less of the rye than I expected.
