Review:

Maple syrup works well with whiskey but not so well with blanco tequila. It works better with reposado tequila, but best with añejo tequila. It seems a syrup that oozes out of wood likes wood! Experimentation also proved that a mix of lemon and lime is better than lime on its own in this Margarita.

I used Bourbon casked maple syrup, and it was simply divine. I also used equal parts lime and lemon, but i don't think that was the game changer. if you know a Canadian or can get the really good syrup from white/silver maple trees in Quebec, it makes a heck of a difference.

Very nice margarita recipe. A bit sweet and we backed off on some of the maple syrup, but most margaritas are sweet. Wonderful flavour. Would make again will a little less maple syrup for my taste.

Thanks, John. I've reduced maple syrup to 20ml (2/3oz) and will look at reducing further.
