I didn't have "margarita bitters." I used orange bitters, about a 1/4 oz like lime juice, 1/2 oz lemon juice and shook in an egg white. Nice step up that cut the cloying semi-sweet texture.

Tried without the bitter, and I would say : quite strong... I would rather do something else with the tequila or with the benedictine.

I made this with Mezcal (over blanco tequila) last night, and it might actually be an improvement.

Marvelous both for it's simplicity and resulting complexity. And the Difford's Margarita Bitters are indespensible . Will try the London Gypsy next.

Definitely an underrated cocktail. I actually make this 50ml/25ml (ie. same ratio, just slightly bigger), otherwise the total of 60ml of liquid looks a bit sad in my Nick and Nora glasses. I'm using El Major blanco.

Agreed. Measures were a tad stingy - I've upped to 45 and 22.5.

Very, very nice cocktail. Interesting mix of the tequila and DOM gives a nice honey, tequila, and herbal taste. Went perfectly with our dinner.
