This is my guilty pleasure. Right now I have a really nice Ron Abuelo rum that pairs wonderfully with the sherry and Demerara sugar. I use chocolate bitters instead of angostura. It tastes like a raisin-brandy desert that is sold in my country as ‘boerenjongens’. You can eat it with ice cream or pancakes. Lovely.

Made this with Bacardi 8 & Lustau San Emilio PX Sherry. Rich, but tasty. I find PX Sherry to be a bit too rich sometimes, so this is a nice option to use it in a more subtle manner.

I'm American - I have no idea what "treacle" is supposed to taste like. This cocktail is sweet, syrupy and laden with funky rum notes - excellent! I can enjoy one as a nice dessert, but that is it - it is very sweet.

Superb night time cocktail. Sweet, but spirit forward. Does takes like treacle, but with a bit more spice and not as much sweet. Perfect.
