Ingredients:
1 12 oz Patrón Reposado tequila
23 oz Cointreau triple sec liqueur
13 oz Difford's Falernum liqueur
23 oz Lime juice (freshly squeezed)
12 oz Cranberry juice (sweetened)
4 drop Difford's Margarita Bitters
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill a Coupe glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of orange twist, rosemary sprig and dried with cranberries, or dehydrated orange slice wheel..
  3. SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  4. FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.
  5. EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and discard.
  6. Garnish with rosemary sprig spiked with dried cranberries, or float a dehydrated orange slice.

A Christmas cocktail created in October 2011 by yours truly and then revisited in November 2020.

Christmas Margarita (2011 recipe)
Glass: Coupe
Garnish: Orange Zest twist
Method: SHAKE all ingredients with ice and fine strain into chilled glass.
45ml / 1½oz Reposado tequila
45ml / 1½oz Cranberry juice
15ml / ½oz Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge
15ml / ½oz Lime juice (freshly squeezed)

Nutrition:

One serving of Christmas Margarita contains 185 calories

Alcohol content:

  • 1.5 standard drinks
  • 18.59% alc./vol. (18.59° proof)
  • 20.5 grams of pure alcohol

Served this today on Christmas Day, and it was a hit! I could not find the Falernum on short notice but subbed spiced rum in its place. Added just a tad more cranberry to soften. Made in a pitcher and served over ice with rosemary sprig and cranberries.

No cranberry juice, took grenadine instead. Works very well.

For the ones who aren't fans of tequila, can I replace it by Diplomatico Planas and have it still taste nice?
