Review:

The success of this cocktail is very dependent on the red wine you use. A lighter earthier style will work better than a voluptuous fruity red.

Pretty nice fruity after meal drink. I used a slightly earthy Cabernet Sauvignon (not a great wine on its own by any means), but it worked very well in the drink, with lemon and grenadine giving the fruitiness. Bourbon tends to unearth different flavours in different drinks, and here I got the cherry and caramel aspects of my Buffalo Trace (45% ABV version).
