Select and pre-chill a COUPE GLASS.

Prepare garnish of lemon zest twist.

Method

STIR all ingredients with ice.

STRAIN into chilled glass.

Made this 3 times. The original was good. Swapped the measures of Campari and Kahlua the second time; ok. Final one the Campari lowered to equal the Kahlua. That was the best harmony of flavors, with arguably some room to slightly up the bourbon and Punt e Mes, or not. Good stuff.

Very nice balance of bitter, sweet, and bourbon.
Mine was Benchmark bourbon, Kalhua, and Contratto red bitter.

Had to use generic Scotch as I somehow misplaced a litre of Jim. Really quite good. Not at all too coffee-y. Will try again once I find that damn bourbon.

Sort of a psychotic Negroni...we can imagine an harassed journo sipping a few of these deep into the night while emptying a packet of cigarettes ahead of an early morning publishing deadline.
