History:

Adapted from a recipe created in January 2018 by Callum Rixson, General Manager at Hideout in Bath, England.

Callum's original recipe used Wild Turkey 101 for the bourbon, and he told us that he created this cocktail for "one of our old locals who was moving to Toronto, and he still drinks it in his local bar." Callum sought to create a drink that could be ordered and replicated pretty much anywhere.

I tried it with the Wild Turkey 101 that Simon has listed in his notes. I prefer it in this cocktail to some more expensive bourbons I had tried. Surprising how well the Chartreuse and Aperol work together. Dolin Genepy works fine if you have a limited supply of chartreuse.

Woodinville 90° bourbon, green Chartreuse, Aperol etc. First sip rather sour, the very smooth high rye bourbon opened the door to an interesting interplay between the extreme opposites Aperol and Chartreuse; and play well they did, center stage!

Ah, what the heck. Made it this time with Old Forester, Dolin Génépy and Campari, and it still works fabulously! Made a double and it was just as good as it warmed up in the glass.

Very tasty with green chartreuse, Aperol, and 100 proof bourbon.

Je l'ai découvert il y a peu, une merveille ! Je n'avais pas de bourbon sous la main, j'ai donc utilisé du Bulleit Rye. Cela fonctionne parfaitement, plus qu'à essayer avec du bourbon pour comparer

This is delicious! We do not currently have any Green Chartreuse but tried broVo Uncharted Rhapsody and it definitely works. Also used .75 oz each as someone suggested in an earlier comment.

Faccia Brutto Centerbe is another worthy substitution.

This cocktail seems to be polarising. Although I'm a fan of both bourbon and chartreuse, this flavour combination did not work for me at all.

Wow. Used Meyer lemon which are not as sour as other varieties. You could do 1.5 x the ingredients as another commenter suggested.

Too sour for my tastes, at least with the Eureka lemon juice that I used. I would probably dial it back to 10mL if I made it again.

Delicious - we made it with Lillet Blanc as we had no Aperol.
