How to make:
SHAKE all ingredients with ice and strain back into shaker. DRY SHAKE (without ice) and fine strain into chilled glass.
1 1/2 fl oz | The Busker Blended Irish Whiskey |
1/2 fl oz | Cognac (brandy) |
1/4 fl oz | Grenadine/pomegranate syrup (2:1) |
1/4 fl oz | Sugar syrup 'rich' (2 sugar to 1 water, 65.0°Brix) |
2/3 fl oz | Lemon juice (freshly squeezed) |
1/2 fl oz | Pasteurised egg white (or aquafaba) |

In his 1948 The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks David A. Embury includes the following recipe:
"GLOOM LIFTER
1 part Sugar Syrup
2 parts Lemon Juice
6 parts Irish Whisky
1 Egg White to each 2 drinks
Shake with cracked ice"
Embury adds, "Compare the Gloom Chaser and Gloom Raiser" which appear earlier in the book:
