I decided to stir (though conscious it may need extra dilution) rather than shaking and ended up with a lovely balance of all the ingredients. The liqueurs and whiskey really complemented each other with the vermouth adding but not subtracting from things.

Clontarf, Luxardo, PF Dry Curacao, Noilly Prat... I haven't tried Mandarine Napoleon, so I used a vague equivalent. The Maraschino (maybe as a result) stood out quite a bit, with the vermouth creeping forward in the aftertaste... Perhaps with a more characterful Irish whiskey and the Napoleon would this then sing. Otherwise, my attempt was just ok. (4 Aug 2023, 5:29p)

Interesting cocktail. Has a martini overtone, but with the whiskey and cherry notes. Find the Mandarine Napoleon gets a little overwhelmed with the other tastes.

Wow, this was exactly my first impression. I'll try upping the mandarine and reducing the vermouth.

John, I immediately got a Martinez tone from this, but I totally understand the Martini feel. The vermouth definitely cuts through.
