GLOOM CHASER or GLOOM RAISER
David A. Embury, 1948
Dry Martini with 2 dashes absinthe and 2 dashes grenadine to each drink. Stir. Compare the International. Another version of the Gloom Chaser consists of a Daiquiri with curaçao substituted for the sugar.
Sadly, Embury does not give a recipe for "the International" in his book.
Grenadine adds a pink-red hue but absinthe ensures this Martini remains dry. Nonetheless, this drink may chase your gloom (blues) away.
