1 oz Disaronno amaretto
2 12 oz India pale ale (IPA) beer
2 12 oz Cola (e.g. Coca-Cola or Pepsi)
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill a Collins glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of lime wedge.
  3. POUR all ingredients into ice-filled glass.
  4. Briefly STIR.
  5. Garnish with lime wedge.

Mimicking the Dr. Pepper flavor, of course, depends on the IPA. I started with the above specs, using local Yards IPA, but went through a few ratio tweaks before settling on: 90 ml cola, 45 ml IPA, 30 ml amaretto. But even that isn't quite dead on... What IPA brands would you all recommend?

Ah! Yes, good suggestion, Christian. I'm well familiar with Harpoon IPA. I'm going to have to hunt that down. Used to be more available around me. Not so much in recent years. Thanks!

Hope you are doing well. Give Harpoon IPA a try. Has a bit more of malty character and less hop forward.
