History

Unknown, but as the same suggests this is simply a tequila-based Negroni.

Review

Lighter and slightly sweeter than a classic gin-based Negroni with Italian bitter liqueur. However, this Italian and Mexican trio make for pleasing cross-continental bedfellows.

I had to add two dashes of Angostura orange bitters to make it work for me.

What a surprise! I'd not have figured a slightly less bitter Negroni with tequila would have appealed to me, but this is a very fine cocktail. Simple, elegant, and with a smooth, very sweet flavor profile, it had just enough "bite" with some Luxardo Aperitivo that I can't see myself altering this one whit. Bravo!

A lot nicer than I expected. Not a patch on a traditional negroni if you like bitter flavours, but a very tasty drink nonetheless.

Tried with anejo and equal parts of campari+grand marnier. Works well.

Following a recipe for a "Tequila Negroni" on another site which used Italian Red Bitter liqueur I can say that that is too bitter and swamped the other ingredients. This one sounds more likely to work (ironic because for a while I was using Luxardo Aperitivo instead of their Bitter Liqueur in other recipes!... And enjoying the results to be honest! :-) )

I have tried, multiple times, to like a classic Negroni, but I just cannot. So my version of this attempt was Cayeya blanco tequila, Contratto Bitter, and Dolin Vermouth de Chambéry Blanc. Much better IMHO with the extra sweetness, perhaps sliding the scale down to a 5. (Where DOES one put the "blanc" modifier up there?)

Having recently acquired a bottle, I would like to try again with Cappelletti Aperitivo.

The Capelletti definitely improves the drink. Red bitter was too much with the rougher quality of tequila.

Having claimed never to have met a negroni I didn't like, this one was
challenging. Cocchi Storico was off
putting with Aperol and Altos plata. However a squeeze of lime and a splash of soda made it work.

I didn't see this Negroni riff called for Luxardo/Aperol instead of Campari. It is quite excellent with Campari, though I imagine much less sweet. This worked for us with excellent quality overproof blanco tequila - worth a try if you have good tequila!

Nice! Love it with tequila. Nice change from gin Negroni or bourbon boulevardier.

Perhaps a little sweet made as stated. We substituted a Rouge vermouth and voila! much more to our liking. With or without modification, a very niiiicccceee Negroni rif.
