Review:

This whisky-laced, lightly spiced apple and lemon cocktail has an autumnal hue and is perfect for hunkering down on a winter's eve. Indeed, it has become a popular cocktail to serve for Thanksgiving and the holiday period that follows.

Try 1 1/2 ounces scotch; 1/2 ounce allspice dram. A bit sweeter perhaps but more fall spices to balance that out.

Agreed; I did Morgenthaler's original recipe and it was too Scotch forward for me. Adding in more Allspice Dram noticeably improved it.

I went a little heavy on the Pimento dram (because I love the stuff) and found this to be a great cold weather drink. Very autumnal and full of the familiar spices we all love. A quality cloudy apple juice really shines here and is a good way to use some up if you've got extra.
