History

Adapted from a cocktail featured in Jeff Berry's Intoxica and originally created in 1932 at Sloppy Joe's Bar, Havana, Cuba. Named after Hollywood ingénue, Joan Bennett, who in the same year starred in Fox's Careless Lady. Years later she hit the news when her husband, producer Walter Wanger, shot her agent in the crotch after catching them in bed together. Oo-err!

Review

Fruity, floral and slightly sweet with an unfortunate yellow-green colour.

I used Creme de Violette and it tastes like it looks, green and herbal. It's a very nice tiki drink, albeit a little sweet for my taste.

For a tiki drink, it is not very sweet which is a plus. But the colour is very strange. Was not as purple as the picture, but a strange purple greenish colour. I would make the drink again, but use curacao instead of the Parfait Amour.
