Review

Lovers of the Sazerac will appreciate this herbal, bourbon-laced cocktail. Spirit-forward but becomes progressively sweeter as it dilutes.

Delicious. Reduce the sugar syrup to 5ml and the Angostura Bitters to two dashes, adding a dash of lemon or grapefruit bitters and it is more so. For us anyway.

Enjoyed. Made slightly more herbal because I only had home made rosemary sugar syrup. Sweet plus whisky = what I need for after dinner and fending off a cold / cough!

A good night cap that is exactly the sum of its parts. No magic in the mix.

Delicious. Closer to an Old Fashioned than a Sazerac. However, was using my in-laws 25+ year old Galliano and maple syrup in the absence of simple. Made a great drink. The lemon twist is essential.

Jim Beam ... tastes like an old fashioned with galliano i guess lol. bit sweet. actually might be better with some really awful whisky

Somehow gives me Vieux Carre vibes. Sazerac is an apt comparison. Without simple syrup, it's good too, the Galliano on full display, but arguably begs for a bit of sugar... Also, I didn't put this over ice. Served it up. (5 Oct 2023, 4:29p)

Pretty good. Any reason this is shaken and not stirred?

Shaking adds dilution and pleasing aeration but modern bartending convention would require stirring. I’ve amended accordingly.
