History

Named after the legendary Prime Minister, this cocktail was created by Joe Gilmore during his tenure bartending (1940 to 1976) at The Savoy Hotel's American Bar, the oldest surviving cocktail bar in London.

Review

Joe Gilmore made this with lime juice but it's much better with lemon juice. Indeed I'm guilty of also tweaking the proportions of the other ingredients to make this rendition of the Churchill to confirm more to my tastes. Hopefully, Joe would have approved.

It's very nice, but I feel like the Sir Winston proportions make a much better cocktail, but this is also very nice.

Rather good but left me with a feeling it lacked a specific trait, something on par with its name.

Enjoyed this before dinner. Interesting combination of flavours from the Whisky and vermouth. Lemon adds a nice citrus hint, but not overpowering. Slight sweetness but perfect as an aperitif.
