Serve in an Old-fashioned glass

Ingredients:
10 fresh Mint leaves
2 oz Hayman's London Dry Gin
12 oz Luxardo Apricot Albicocca Liqueur
1 oz Lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
12 oz Monin Pure Cane Syrup (65.0°brix, equivalent to 2:1 rich syrup)

Garnish: Lemon slice

How to make:

Lightly MUDDLE mint in base of shaker (just to bruise). Add other ingredients, SHAKE with ice and fine strain into glass filled with crushed ice. Serve with straws.

Review:

Hints of lemon and mint with gin and apricot fruit. Very refreshing.

History:

An adaptation of a drink created in the early 1930s and named after Washington Irving's novel and its enchanted valley with ghosts, goblins and headless horseman.

The very first old-timey cocktail I ever tried, way back in the mid- 2010s. Return to it every few years and still find it surprisingly delicious and an improvement over a Southside. I’d like to eventually do some research to find its provenance.

This is nice lengthened with soda - refreshing.
